Methanol is a pure chemical (CH3OH) that appears as a colorless liquid that can be transported and stored easily. Methanol is produced mainly from natural gas but can also be produced from renewable sources such as biomass, waste, and power-plant emissions.
Besides its traditional uses as a basis solvent or chemical block for pharmaceutical and other industries, Methanol has significant energetic characteristics. It, therefore, can be used as a clean, safer, competitive & ready to use alternative fuel.
During the last decade, DOR-MOTORS has put an intensive R&D effort to expand the used methanol as a clean alternative fuel and succeeded in developing & launch an Internal Combustion Engine running on 100% methanol (M100 engine technology). The M100 engine technology leads up to a 90% reduction in air pollutants and a reduction of up to 15% in CO2 emissions, compared to diesel.
Based on M100 engine technology, DOR-MOTORS is currently marketing M100 local-power Gensets that generate clean electricity using 100% methanol. Using methanol instead of diesel reduces local air pollution from the gensets and enables to place them in sensitive areas close to the population, such as construction sites, residential neighborhoods, etc.
Based on its M-100 engine technology, DOR-MOTORS has launched the first in the world medium-duty-truck that runs on 100% methanol and offer real alternative to diesel trucks while using current fueling distribution system.
